Cabbage Seeds (Pride of India)

Cabbage is a kitchen staple in most Indian households, showing up in sabzi, salads, and parathas, and growing your own head on a balcony means you control exactly what goes into it. Pride of India is a compact-heading variety suited to container growing, which makes it a good pick if you've only got a large grow bag or a terrace bed to spare rather than an open field. Once you sow the seeds around 0.5 cm deep, expect them to germinate within 5-10 days if the soil stays evenly moist and the tray sits somewhere warm. Seedlings need full sun for 5-6 hours daily to bulk up properly, and as they grow you'll want to thin or transplant them out to about 45-60 cm apart so each plant has enough room to form a solid head. Cabbage is a longer-season crop here, typically ready for harvest in 80-100 days, so treat it as a patient, one-season container project rather than a quick turnaround crop.
