Bhindi Seeds (Arka Anamika)

Bhindi, or okra, is one of the more forgiving vegetables to grow on a balcony precisely because it doesn't climb, sprawl, or need staking — it grows upright in its own footprint, which makes it easy to slot between pots of herbs or flowers. Arka Anamika is a familiar variety for home kitchens, producing the tender green pods used in everyday sabzi. If you want a vegetable that doesn't demand a trellis or a large trailing area, bhindi is a practical place to start. It's a full-sun crop, so put it where it gets 6-8 hours of direct light, and water regularly whenever the top soil feels dry rather than on a fixed schedule — that keeps you responsive to how fast pots dry out in the heat. Spacing is compact at 30-45 cm apart, which means several plants can fit into a single large container or a row of grow bags along a railing. Harvest comes relatively quickly too, at around 50-60 days from sowing, and the plant needs no support structure at all.
